Lessons Learned At The Senior PGA

After 4 days of watching some of the best golfers in the world, I have actually learned a few lessons. Yes, it’s true. It is possible to improve your game simply by watching people better than you play. Here’s a case in point. I noticed that each and every golfer out there had the same characteristics in their swings: they were smooth and balanced. That’s it. No one was swinging out of their shoes. The speed was constant from back swing to ball strike to follow thru. And no one fell backwards after the swing (at least not when they hit it right!).

Before you dismiss this observation as less than helpful, know that the first round I played after the PGA, trying to emulate the swing of some of those guys, I shot 6 strokes lower than the round preceding the tournament. Now if I could only putt….
